The first morgan purchased was a black stallion, Brady's Defender. Soon gelded, Defender was trained and shown western pleasure by Rick Davis, winning Grand Champion at Jubilee and top a10 at Nationals.

Defender sports a shiny black coat every spring and fall. He is a good trail riding companion, but at home he has a field to himself. He does enjoy the perks of being the "foundation" gelding.
BJ was Matthew's English pleasure show horse. Big John breeding meant a ground-covering trot. He was also MR. BIG PERSONALITY, the favorite of all the girls who hung around. He is truly a dear boy.
They had a good time together, working hard and winning some ribbons. When Matthew moved on, BJ became Missy Knight's boy to brag-on.

Matthew & BJ won the Wisconsin State 4H Saddleseat Pleasure Championship, besting 40 some horses and riders in the class. B J's favorite gait was a Morgan road trot and he blew their doors off! Maybe the best part of being a boy with a horse is the companionship of girls with horses.
Beany has been owned by Judy and Frank Gassmann since he was a weanling. His dad is, of course, the famous Waseeka's In Command son and the sire of a line of wonderful show horses including my favorite, Century Free Spirit.. Like all of Shauna's offspring, he sports a short, beautiful head, big push off the back end, and is an easy-keeper. He has shown in-hand and english pleasure, before turning to jumping and finally dressage.

Presto was the first colt born here to our sport horse mare, Shauna. His sire is an accomplished show horse, son of Tedwin Topic x Topfield's Alexandra. He made his adult home in Illinois and was that all-purpose Morgan, shown hunt and western - sometimes at the same show! He was much loved, and much missed after his untimely death.

| The bay colt was the only foal his year. He was abstemious of his love and hence earned his barn name, 'The Grinch.' It only took a few months before he decided that we were okay. By his yearling year, he was already suggesting a jumping career. He was very sensible, not rattled by anything, and long-striding. | ![]() |

| He began his jumping education with hunter/jumper trainer, Mary Jacobson (pictured above). Jumping was "his" thing. Flying lead changes were "not" his thing and he bucked Mary through many a try. He learned. He found the delicate poise of dressage more difficult, but he took to a cross country course with glee. The Grinch was evented and this big, handsome Morgan horse let everyone in the eventing circuit see what a morgan could do. |
Seven Secrets grew round and ribby in her 4 yr. old spring. I wormed, upped grain and was about to call the vet. One night she did not come in for grain. I found her back in the paddock with a tiny bay colt at her side. Shock! I didn't even have a stallion at home. Turns out that The Grinch worked his genetic magic through a gate around the time he was gelded, eleven months earlier.

Surprise and an eclipse of the sun on his birthday, led to his name. Although not planned, this colt brings together most of the bloodlines at BGF, and does it well. He grew to be 15H, very athletic and smart. He had an adequate start in dressage when he was sold to Ohio. He has continued his dressage training with new 'mom,' J.C. We expect more people to learn about dressage Morgansas J.C. and S.S. head out into the world. |
